Why We’re Grateful to Say No to Black Friday
As November winds down, I’m taking a moment to reflect on just how much this month has meant to us at Flourish—and why I’m so grateful we’ve never participated in Black Friday.
This past month has been huge on so many levels. We just finished packing up the last of the Secret Sale orders, and my heart is so full. That’s because:
1️⃣ We were overwhelmed—in the best way possible—by the incredible number of orders.
2️⃣ Our schedule was packed with other exciting happenings, like our giveaways and the Stick Season Steams that brought so much joy to our space.
3️⃣ We welcomed and trained two amazing new team members, who are already making such a difference.
4️⃣ We navigated a string of challenges: a broken filling machine that delayed purple conditioner orders, a heat sealer that gave out (hello, shampoo leaks!), and a stock shortage of shampoo pumps that couldn’t be resolved until after Thanksgiving.
Whew! That’s just the reality of running a small business—full of surprises, both the wonderful and the tricky ones.
It’s moments like these that reaffirm why I’m so thankful we choose to skip Black Friday. For us, it’s about focusing on meaningful connections, sustainable practices, and creating products and experiences that truly matter—not scrambling to keep up with fleeting sales trends.
I’m especially grateful for the chance to step away from the hustle and spend time with my loved ones—cooking, laughing, and simply being present. To me, this season is about connection and reflection, not the frenzy of shouting "biggest sale of the year!" on repeat.
Thank you for supporting a small business that values the slower moments and meaningful choices. Whether you're gathering with family or finding time for yourself this holiday, I hope it’s filled with joy, warmth, and plenty of moments that matter most.
Here’s to a season of gratitude and connection. ❤️
